But who’s to say you can’t hire one for a casual bank holiday weekend in quarantine (with your household only, of course)? Who’s to say you can’t be a fully grown adult and spend the day gleefully bouncing around in your back garden?

Everything else has changed thanks to lockdown, and therefore so should our understanding of when and why we’re allowed to hire a bouncy castle, just for the hell of it.

We mean, who didn’t love playing on bouncy castles when they were younger? And there’s no reason why you can’t channel your inner child now too, with events companies offering adult versions.

First of all, yes – there are companies that are still offering hires in line with social distancing measures.

For instance, KBL Event Hire – who offer hires in Essex, Herts, Cambridge, parts of Kent and London – are operating but only for private dwellings with gardens where social distancing measures can be met.

As for the bouncy castles, units are thoroughly cleaned before delivery and when collected to prevent the chance of passing on infection.

The company offers a range of different bouncy castles in varying sizes which cost between £120 and £160 for the day depending on which one you go for. You can even keep them overnight for an extra £30.

Not bad for a full day of bouncy castle fun. After all, we’re spending out bank holiday indoors so why not spend our pub money on hiring a huge inflatable castle instead?
